If the current pace of the spread of the coronavirus does not slow down, the number of infected individuals worldwide could exceed 300 million by the beginning of 2022.
As reported by TASS, this was stated during a press briefing with journalists in Geneva by the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
He recalled that last week the number of coronavirus infections worldwide surpassed 200 million, and that this occurred six months after the number of infections worldwide exceeded 100 million.
Ghebreyesus noted that the global community currently has “a great toolkit to prevent, test and treat COVID-19.”
