In the near future, it may become possible to cross the Armenian-Turkish border with passports. Such a statement was made by Turkish President’s press secretary Ibrahim Kalın, in an interview given to one of the local television channels.
He underscored the meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held in Prague.
“We want a foundation to be laid for peace and prosperity throughout the entire South Caucasus. The Karabakh issue has been resolved, and ties are being established that could not be established over the course of 30 years. Now direct contacts are taking place, rather than through third parties. That is very important,” Kalın said.
According to him, the process of normalising relations between Turkey and Armenia continues in a positive direction.
Let us recall that on 6 October, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met in Prague. The Armenian government had stated that during the meeting, the need for the swift implementation of the understandings reached through the discussions of the special representatives of the two countries was emphasised.
In particular, the reference is to the opening of the land border for citizens of third countries and the implementation of direct air cargo transportation between Armenia and Turkey.
