The North Atlantic Alliance is increasing its presence “from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea.” This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a press conference in Bucharest, as reported by TASS.
“Our progress cannot be stopped. We are strengthening NATO’s presence from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea. And within the framework of these efforts, we constantly work with each other… Romania is an extremely important participant in these efforts and, of course, in the broader efforts to ensure that NATO is the strongest defensive alliance,” the diplomat said after a meeting with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu.
He added that the Black Sea region has strategic importance for the alliance and constitutes an extremely important element of “NATO’s defence.”
“We are committed to building modern and interoperable armed forces that will be useful throughout NATO’s entire territory, including in the Black Sea,” Blinken said.
