Important Meeting on Syria in Ankara

Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold bilateral meetings with the presidents of Turkey and Iran, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani, within the framework of discussions aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict, reports RIA Novosti, citing Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. “As you know, on Monday a trilateral meeting of the guarantor countries in the Astana format on the settlement of the Syrian conflict is scheduled. Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold bilateral meetings with the presidents of Turkey and Iran, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hassan Rouhani, within the framework of discussions aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict, reports RIA Novosti, citing Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

“As you know, on Monday a trilateral meeting of the guarantor countries in the Astana format on the settlement of the Syrian conflict is scheduled. The meeting will take place in Ankara, and the president will travel there. Bilateral meetings are also planned with both Rouhani and Erdogan,” Peskov said.

The summit of the presidents of the three countries — Russia, Turkey and Iran — aimed at resolving the Syrian conflict will take place on 16 September at the Cankaya Palace in Ankara. According to Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin, the summit will discuss the overall situation in Syria’s Idlib region, as well as issues related to the formation of Syria’s constitutional committee.
