A Ukrainian passenger plane crashed in Tehran today with 176 passengers and crew members on board. Media report that the Boeing 737 of the Ukrainian International Airlines crashed after taking off from Imam Khomeini Airport, according to preliminary information due to technical problems. According to the BBC, it is not clear whether the incident is connected to Iran-US tensions.
Citing Iranian media, the Reuters agency reports that all passengers of the Ukrainian passenger plane that crashed in Iran today have been killed. There were 176 passengers on board, who were travelling from Tehran to Kyiv.
Iran’s Ministry of Emergency Situations has stated that there is no hope of finding survivors from the plane crash, as all the wreckage of the aircraft is burning. Rescuers are carrying out firefighting operations.
