The Kremlin is confident that statements about possible military support to Azerbaijan and Armenia, the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, only add fuel to the fire, and the sides must be persuaded to return to a political-diplomatic path of settlement. This was stated by Russian President’s Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov during a conversation with journalists on Tuesday, TASS news agency reports.
“In the Kremlin, first of all, we proceed from the need for a swift ceasefire and the cessation of military operations. Any statement about military support or military activity unequivocally adds fuel to the fire. We are categorically against this and do not agree with such a formulation of the question,” the Kremlin representative emphasised.
“We call on all countries, especially our partners, such as Turkey, to do everything possible to persuade the opposing sides to cease fire and return to a peaceful settlement of this long-standing conflict through political and diplomatic means,” Peskov said.
