The earthquake in the Turkish city of Gaziantep has shaken dozens of cities in Turkey, as well as various regions of Syria and Lebanon.
The first tremor of the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale, in the northern region of Iskenderun; the second was 6.4, on the Turkey-Syria border. The two successive earthquakes lasted more than 2 seconds.
The number of casualties in Turkey and Syria is estimated in the hundreds, and in the case of both countries, state authorities are exerting their full efforts to carry out rescue operations.
Sad news is coming especially from the city of Aleppo, where more than 250 casualties have been recorded. The high number of casualties is due to the collapse of buildings in various regions.
Among the casualties there are also Armenians.
