Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. According to the Kremlin, the call was initiated by the Azerbaijani side.
The sides exchanged views on issues in the region, discussing the escalation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border in July. The Russian side stressed that no action should be allowed that could contribute to increased tension.
Aliyev congratulated Putin on the registration of the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus.
The Kremlin press service also stated that the leaders of the two countries discussed topics on the bilateral agenda and “confirmed mutual readiness for the further strengthening of Russian-Azerbaijani relations in all areas.”
