Russian President Vladimir Putin today, on the final day of voting, took part in the country’s constitutional referendum. He cast his ballot at a polling station opened in the building of the National Academy of Sciences in Moscow, where he traditionally votes. This was reported by Gazeta.
Voting is to conclude today, and after all polling stations close, the counting of votes will begin at 20:00 local time. During that process, votes cast at polling stations, mobile polling stations, and those received through postal services will be tallied.
In the event the constitutional amendments are adopted, among other provisions, Putin’s presidential terms would be reset, as a result of which he could lead the country for two further presidential terms, until 2036. Putin has already led the country as president and prime minister for 20 years.
