State of Emergency in Kazakhstan Comes to an End

The state of emergency declared in Kazakhstan in connection with the unrest came to an end today. The government has stated that “the constitutional order in the country has already been restored, but the anti-terrorist operation continues.” It should be recalled that the state of emergency was declared on January 5 by decree of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The Kazakh authorities have not yet presented evidence attesting to the participation of terrorists in the protests and to the unrest being directed from outside. It should be recalled that the state of emergency was declared on January 5 by decree of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
