In Syria, terrorists have killed the pastor of the Armenian Catholic community of Qamishli, Rev. Hovsep Petoyan, and his father, Rev. Abraham Petoyan.
They were killed on the road to Deir ez-Zor by car. As reported to “Azadutyun” by the pastor’s childhood friend, Deacon Hagop Parsumyan, the terrorists opened fire on their vehicle.
The deacon said that the pastor was born and raised in Syria, and after being ordained in Armenia, he returned and continued his service in Syria.
He also related that a large explosion occurred in Qamishli. According to the Associated Press, a total of 3 explosions thundered, and the number of victims is eight; among them there are no Armenians.
The deacon stressed that these explosions and the killing are unrelated.
