The chair of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, stated in his closing address that the West has more patience than the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. His address was broadcast on the conference’s website.
In his address, Heusgen spoke about “transatlantic unity,” noting that the West has sent a “clear signal.”
“We have come to stay. And we have more patience than Vladimir Putin,” the conference chair stressed, adding that the West must do “its homework” and increase spending earmarked for the defence industry in order to support Ukraine.
“Peace is established through dialogue. We are very glad that within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, as in the previous year, many dialogues have taken place,” Heusgen said.
According to him, one of the most vivid impressions this year was the video address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Heusgen expressed the hope that next year the Ukrainian leader will be present at the conference in person.
