Caucasus affairs expert Ahmad Kazemi stated during Iran’s television program “Soraya” that the “fake Zangezur corridor” or the “NATO Turanian corridor” is a geopolitical fabrication by Britain and the “Zionist regime” in the important Caucasus region located in Iran’s northwest, where the governments of Turkey and Azerbaijan play the roles of agent and executor in this project, reports parstoday.com.
“There is abundant evidence showing that Britain and the Zionist regime are the main architects of this unrest and related movements. Adam Thomson, Britain’s former representative to NATO, clearly stated that the 2020 war between Azerbaijan and Armenia created a historic opportunity that must be used, and by creating a corridor connecting Turkey to Azerbaijan through southern Armenia, NATO could be brought to the Caspian Sea and moved one step closer to China,” he said.
Kazemi noted that “all the facts and evidence testify that Azerbaijan intends to seize and annex southern Armenia, and has even gone beyond the fake Zangezur corridor plan.” The website recalled that recently Armenia’s representative at the UN also declared that there is information that Azerbaijan will launch military operations from Nakhichevan to occupy other parts of Armenia’s territory, in order to sever Armenia’s connection with the country’s southern regions, and that practically this part of Armenia will be partitioned with the help of Turkey and Israel and attached to Azerbaijan.
“Given Armenia’s weakness, desperation and fragility in the current situation, Azerbaijan, with the support of Britain, the Zionist regime and Turkey, pursues goals beyond the fake Zangezur corridor. Considering the words of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who has repeatedly emphasized that Armenia’s southern region and even Yerevan historically belong to Azerbaijan, and that Azerbaijanis will return there either by political or military means, Azerbaijan’s expansionist aspirations to annex Armenia’s southern regions become clear,” he said.
