Turkey Does Not Rule Out Leaving NATO in 5-6 Months

Turkey could leave NATO in five to six months due to provocative actions against Ankara. This view was expressed by Ethem Sancak, vice-chairman of the Turkish “Fatherland” party, TASS news agency reported. “Events are forcing us to take such actions; NATO is trying through its provocations to set us against our neighbour Greece. Turkey will leave NATO in five to six months. They are trying to drag Turkey into the whirlpool of the Middle East. Meanwhile, on 19 January, the Turkish “Fatherland” party announced the launch of a nationwide campaign, “Let’s Leave NATO,” calling on the country’s authorities to withdraw from the North Atlantic alliance. Party leader Dogu Perincek said that “a strong NATO means a strong threat to Turkey.”
