American actor George Clooney has stated that he once turned down a $35 million offer for a day’s work. He noted that the job would have been an advertisement for an airline company.
“I was offered $35 million for a day’s work to appear in an airline advertisement. But I spoke with Amal about it, and we decided it wasn’t worth doing,” Clooney commented, adding that they made such a decision because “the company belongs to a country that, although an ally, is sometimes contentious.”
The Hollywood actor likely received the offer from Turkish Airlines, which is Turkey’s state-owned airline. It should also be noted that Amal Clooney, whom the actor married in 2014, was one of the lawyers representing Armenia during the 2016 hearing at the ECHR of a case related to the Armenian Genocide.
