The Syrian Democratic Forces have begun withdrawing their units from the Syrian border town of Ras al-Ayn. This was reported by the TASS agency, citing Arab sources.
According to reports, Kurdish units have begun evacuating from the northwestern region of Hasakah province. They are heading to the central regions of the province, in accordance with the agreement reached between the United States and Turkey.
Later, Al-Arabiya television reported that Turkish troops and the Syrian opposition forces supporting them have taken control of the city of Ras al-Ayn.
On 17 October, Washington and Ankara reached an agreement to halt military operations in northern Syria, after which Kurdish forces are obliged to vacate areas extending 30 km along the border.
