Noteworthy reports have appeared in the world press regarding a military deal between Greece and the US, under which the US has agreed to hand over to Greece F-35 fighter jets produced for Turkey.

The Jewish Jewish Press website operating in America wrote that the US is to transfer to the Greek air force modern F-35 fighter jets that were previously produced for the Turkish air force but remained in the US, because Trump was angry at Erdogan.

And the reason for the anger, according to the periodical, was the acquisition of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from Russia.

“The US removed Turkey from the F-35 joint strike fighter programme this summer, following President Erdogan’s decision to acquire the S-400s from Russia, the first battery of which was delivered in June of this year,” wrote the Jewish Press.

The Greek Estia newspaper also wrote that the question of supplying F-35 fighter jets to Greece was discussed between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and his Greek counterpart. According to the publication, the US intends to supply Greece with 20 F-35s, of which the first 6 are aircraft produced for Turkey but remaining in the US.

The Greek Greek City Times periodical also wrote that this Greek-American deal will not be limited only to fighter jets.

According to the newspaper, the US intends to transfer the NATO nuclear technology present at its military base located in Turkey to the Greek island of Crete.

“Greece has stated that Ankara’s decision to send a ship near one of the Greek islands represents great tension and a direct threat to the peace of the region. A representative of the Greek government, responding to that question on Monday and addressing the Turkish counterparts with irony, said: ‘Turkey showed that its words are not worthy of trust,'” wrote Greek City Times.
