The Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, in light of new deliveries of Russian S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to Turkey, has called on the country’s President Donald Trump to impose sanctions against Ankara. The committee made this statement on its Twitter page.
“President Trump, you must impose sanctions against Turkey for purchasing the S-400 air defense systems, as required by American law. Turkey’s interests are best served by partnership with the United States, not with the Kremlin,” the message said.
Earlier, the House committee had already called for sanctions against Turkey over the purchase of the S-400.
It should be recalled that negotiations between the Russian Federation and Turkey over the purchase of S-400 systems first became known in November 2016, and the sales agreement was signed in September 2017, with the value of the acquired systems, consisting of 4 units of anti-aircraft missile systems, amounting to 2.5 billion dollars.
