The number of people infected with the “COVID-19” coronavirus worldwide has exceeded 10 million. As can be seen from the regularly updated data on the worldometers.info website, by 27 June the number of confirmed infection cases worldwide had reached 10,004,961.
To date, 498,990 people have died from the illness caused by the coronavirus, while 5,141,852 have recovered. Of the active cases (4,091,119), the condition of 1 percent (57,701) is assessed as serious. In the last 24 hours, more than 106,000 new infection cases have been detected worldwide.
The United States leads the world in both infection and mortality rates, where an increase in infection cases has been observed in recent days. In total, 2,581,648 infection cases have been detected in the US, 127,967 of which have resulted in death.
Following the US in the number of cases are Brazil (1,284,214), Russia (627,646), India (529,331), and Great Britain (310,250).
Among the countries leading in mortality rates are Brazil, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, France, and Mexico.
