I believe the expression “corridor” should be rejected. “Corridors” have left a very bad memory in the history of diplomacy, such as, for example, the Danzig Corridor. This was stated by the French Ambassador to Armenia, Jonathan Lacôte, in an interview given to Azatutyun Radio, in response to a question about the expression “Zangezur corridor”, which is periodically voiced by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
“We believe that we should work on the basis of the January 11 trilateral declaration, which was signed between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and which provides for the restoration of regional routes of communication between the countries of the region and their neighbours. France is fully prepared to work with the countries of the region towards the operation of the region’s transport infrastructure,” the ambassador said.
