NATO is concerned by the growth of the nuclear potential of China and Russia and calls for greater transparency. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, speaking at the Alliance’s annual conference on arms control and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
The conference, held for the 17th time on 6-7 September, was organised by the North Atlantic Alliance and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
«Russia continues to ignore and violate the rules. Russia is developing its nuclear capabilities, including intercontinental ballistic missiles», Stoltenberg said.
According to him, Russia has «put into operation hypersonic systems, conducted tests of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles with nuclear warheads». China, he said, is rapidly developing its nuclear potential. Stoltenberg added that «transparency and predictability correspond to common interests».
