The US House of Representatives has adopted an amendment introduced by Congressman Pallone that would halt US military financial assistance to Azerbaijan, reports Voice of America.
In the amendment introduced by Pallone, it is stated: “No funding shall be provided to Azerbaijan through the ‘International Military Education and Training’ and ‘Foreign Military Financing’ programs.”
The provision does not block discretionary military equipment that may be transferred by the Department of Defense under Section 333 of US law.
Frank Pallone, co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, welcomed the House’s decision on the amendments.
